Samuel A. Kojoglanian, MD Biography
A graduate from the University of Southern California Medical School, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, CA. Dr. Kojoglanian completed his fellowship in Cardiology at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Medical Center, becoming an interventional cardiologist.
Voted the most skilled doctor in his hospital, his mission is to invest in the lives of people – honoring them with compassion, kindness and gentleness. His passion is to physically and spiritually repair, restore, and renew the brokenhearted.
Born in Jerusalem, Israel of Armenian descent, Dr. Kojoglanian came to the United States as a child with the dream of becoming a heart doctor. He overcame mammoth obstacles, including learning a new language, a new way of life, facing bigotry, and ultimately overcoming 27 rejection letters to medical school in order to live his dreams.
After witnessing tragic trauma involving youth and their families in Southern California emergency rooms, Dr. Kojoglanian tirelessly ministers to young and old alike. He inspired to intercept the violence and prevent it by incorporating his anti-violence and anti-drug message into rap form. Known as Dr. K and Dr. Rap, he has recorded three albums; “Licensed to Heal” in 1996, “Cut to the Heart” in 2001 and his recent release, “Outrageous Healer.”
Dr. Kojoglanian speaks internationally, and has authored 3 books, Playing on Your Last String, Mirror Mirror on the Wall, and Not on My Shift, along with 2 children’s books, Friends with Tommie Bear and Tommie Bear Goes to School. By God’s grace, he speaks in schools, colleges, prisons, youth events, churches, business seminars and corporations, and challenges a broken generation to greatness. He is truly the Mender of Hearts.
He resides in Southern California and enjoys jogging, playing the sax, golf, and basketball. He also collects model lighthouses and loves to visit the ocean side.
